ASU fiber optic cable, also known as mini ADSS fiber optic cable, is an aerial self-supporting dielectric cable that contains one or two max loose tubes which is filled with up to 12 optical fibers(thus max 24 optical fibers in total). The fibers are protected from moisture by jelly and hydro-expandable material inside the loose tube.
It is all dielectric which has FRP strength member as a traction element, providing pull strength and avoiding electrical discharges between connections. It is much easier and ligher to handle and install compared to other outdoor cable, eliminating the need to use strings or grounding. It’s widely used in FTTH fiber to the home networking.
The Advantages and Characteristics of ASU Fiber Optic Cable
• It is commonly in span of 80m or 120m with less weight.
• It is mainly used in the communication route of overhead high voltage transmission system, and can also be used in the communication line under the environment such as lightning zone and long distance overhead line.
• It is 20% or more cheaper compared with standard ADSS fiber optic cable. ASU fiber optic cable can not only save the use of imported aramid yarn, but also reduce the manufacturing cost due to the reduction of the overall structure size.
• Great tensile strength and high/low temperature resistance
• Service life is expected over 30 years
